‘Introvabile!’, as the Italians say. A Giulia with hard and original metal sheeting is as hard to find as an Italian who has paid all his taxes. Then you suddenly stumble across one and are allowed to take her back to the Netherlands. But in Italy, people like those long, difficult goodbyes, like the final one for Silvio B.. Syrupy and expensive is how it goes. So it was with quite some pride that I now have her here in the fresh air of Warmond, ready for someone with a warm spot in their heart to whisk her away. A Giulia is a driving monument to the successful Italian auto industry of the1960s. With advanced technology, like the dual overhead cams, five-speeds and the disc brakes that are on this car, this model was a great financial success for Alfa Romeo, partly in thanks to its superior construction. Hundreds of thousands of these cars were built, but today very few remain that were never welded or had the metal plating renewed. Here then is an exception. Original paint, of the highest quality. The official color name is Prugna, which is a rarity on a uniquely beautiful Giulia.
Options were few at that time. The thick, characteristic rubber mats and basic radio were the options people could spend extra on. Hence, nothing like today’s door sills with illuminated brand logos costing € 895.00.
I have rarely encountered a Giulia with such an original, hard, tight and dry body. Fittings like from an Audi from 2015, all folded joints intact, no putty anywhere and even the wheel arches and underbelly remain pristinely in the car’s color. Spot welding everywhere evident. The body is wholly scratch-free and dent-free. No damage anywhere. The body paint remains of superior quality, no discoloration, a beautiful, deep shine all over. This Giulia’s pristine underside is also still in the car’s original color and free of tectyl. All windows are flawless. The chrome and rust-free bumpers are tight and unblemished by weather. A top model - every aspect extremely original.
The interior is of the same extremely high quality as the body. All upholstery is original and flawless. Original optional rubber mats on the floor. Top of the dashboard uncracked by heat and sun. Firmly supportive seats, no sagging. Original rear speaker; no cuts in door panels. Door rubbers in fine condition. Headlining original and tight. Original steering wheel and proper switches, dials and control panels. Is this not the most beautiful car steering wheel in the world?
Matching engine in the dry, original engine compartment. All neat and accounted for, factory plates and the water spray container, for example. The trunk is also a fine example of how dry and fine this Giulia is. No signs of wear anywhere, no rust around the tank rim or on the spare tire. All is beautiful and clean. Original 14-inch steel wheels with alluring classic Alfa hubcaps and excellent Pirelli tires all around.
Such superior quality is only ever found in dry, continental climates like Italy. This Giulia comes from the area around Ancona and has had only two owners. A more original car cannot be found. Thanks to always being garage stored, this Giulia is 'like new'. For anyone searching for the most beautiful and pristine in an alluring and rare color, this is your chance.
